Escape the bustle of the French Riviera and venture into the peaceful landscapes of the Alpes-Maritimes hinterland. Following scenic mountain roads and spectacular viewpoints, this private journey reveals some of the region's most authentic perched villages, where medieval heritage, mountain traditions, and breathtaking landscapes have been preserved.

This private experience is designed for travelers looking to discover a lesser-known and more authentic side of the French Riviera.

Gréolières

Above the Loup Valley

Perched high above the Loup Valley, Gréolières offers a fascinating glimpse into the mountain heritage of Provence. Explore its historic streets and discover the remains of Hautes-Gréolières, the ancient village once used as a refuge.

Surrounded by dramatic peaks and open landscapes, Gréolières is an ideal first encounter with the quieter, wilder side of the Riviera.

Coursegoules

Timeless Provence

Continue to Coursegoules, a remarkably preserved mountain village situated at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level.

Walk through its narrow stone streets, discover medieval houses and remnants of its ancient fortifications, and enjoy sweeping views across the surrounding valleys and rugged Provençal countryside.

Bouyon

Authentic Hinterland

The journey continues through the landscapes of the Esteron Valley towards Bouyon, a peaceful perched village surrounded by forests and mountains.

Far from the coastal crowds, Bouyon offers a more intimate experience of the Alpes-Maritimes, with its traditional architecture, quiet streets, and spectacular natural surroundings.

Carros

A Glimpse of Medieval Heritage

Depending on your interests and timing, the itinerary can also include Carros, whose medieval upper village sits dramatically above the Var Valley. Its historic streets and panoramic position make it a rewarding additional stop on the way through the hinterland.

All year round. Each season shows the region differently - we adapt the route to the light and the weather.

Fitness level

Easy to moderate, adapted to you. Village streets are cobbled and sloping; tell us if that is a problem.

Families

Welcome. Child seats provided free of charge on request.

If it rains

The day shifts indoors - workshops, museums, tastings and a longer lunch - without losing its character.

Good to know

Questions guests ask before booking

Where do we start, and at what time?

We pick you up at your hotel, villa or the cruise terminal. Departure is usually between 8:30 and 9:30 - earlier to beat the crowds, later if you are on holiday and it is holiday time.

How is lunch handled?

We book the table, you choose the register: a gastronomic restaurant, a Provençal bistro, or a farm table. Lunch is not included in the tour price so that you keep the choice. Dietary requirements are never a problem - tell us in advance.

What language will the tour be in?

English or French by default. Spanish, Arabic and Berber are also possible - Fouad speaks all five.

Can we combine this with another tour over two days?

Often the best plan. The second day is quoted at a reduced rate.

What happens if the weather turns?

The day shifts without losing its character. We only cancel for genuinely unsafe mountain or sea conditions, and then we reschedule or refund.

How and when do we pay?

You receive a written proposal with a firm price for your group. No deposit is required to hold a date more than a week out. Payment on the day, by card or in cash.

Fouad took us to beautiful out-of-the-way vineyards, and lunch afterwards in Saint-Tropez. He went above and beyond, helping us ship wine back home.Marcus Loy
Great personality, knew all the shortcuts, and really just a cool guy. One of my favorite guides!Thomas Beck, USA
