Gourdon, Alpes-Maritimes
Perched on a rocky spur a thousand metres above the Loup valley, Gourdon is ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. Get there at ten in the morning and the cobbled lanes are yours - with the Mediterranean laid out below, all the way to the Estérel.
Nice Hinterland, 8 hours
Bay of Villefranche
Fouad has been competing with the Nice club where freediving became a sport and where world champions train. Licensed instructor, two paddleboards, wetsuits and masks in the van. Whatever your level, you will see the bay from underneath.
Beaches & Water, 8 hours
L'Authion, Southern Alps
Up past the Col de Turini at 1,600 m, a vast abandoned military complex - bunkers, artillery positions, the remains of an American tank. Lunch is a picnic at the summit, surrounded by silence and the highest peaks of the Southern Alps.

Roya Valley, French-Italian border
Still largely undiscovered, the Roya has been a trade route since Antiquity. Honey harvested from bees protected in enclosures unique in the world, a master pipe maker who supplies Swiss boutiques, and a chapel whose wall paintings recall the Sistine.

Erg Chegaga, Sahara
The largest and wildest dune field in Morocco. The closest light pollution is more than sixty kilometres away, which makes this one of the most pristine stargazing places in the country. Luxury tents, private bathroom, desert music before dinner.

Fint oasis, near Ouarzazate
A haven in the middle of arid mountains. You walk the oasis with the people who farm it, see the water management that makes life possible here, then watch a traditional tagine being prepared by a women's association - and eat it. Time stands still.

Your founder & guide
Formerly an international lawyer and UNESCO consultant in Paris, Fouad later ran his own export company before moving to the Côte d'Azur. His lifelong passion for the sea - particularly free diving - led him to explore the Riviera in depth.
Born in Morocco, he speaks English, French, Spanish, Berber and Arabic, has lived in South Africa, Spain and Paris, and is a graduate of the Sorbonne.
