A medieval fortified village
On the ancient Salt Route
After approximately 40 minutes of driving, we reach our first stop: a medieval fortified village, once an important stop along the ancient Salt Route linking the Mediterranean coast to Piedmont in Italy. You will explore the ruins of a castle dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, with a tower still standing, as well as beautifully restored Gothic houses, arcades, covered passageways, carved wooden doors, an ancient communal bread oven, small fountains, and a charming museum dedicated to traditional tools. The village church, listed as a historic monument, completes the visit.
