Overview

Just a short drive from the Mediterranean, the Bellet wine region offers one of the most distinctive wine experiences on the Côte d'Azur. Perched on the hills overlooking Nice, this small appellation combines Mediterranean influences, mountain landscapes and centuries-old winemaking traditions.

This private experience is designed for travellers who want to discover another side of the Côte d'Azur. Rather than simply visiting the famous sights, you will travel through the landscapes that surround Nice, meet the people who preserve its wine traditions, taste distinctive local wines and explore some of the most beautiful hilltop villages of Provence. This experience is entirely private and can be adapted to your interests.

For wine lovers, the day can focus on two or three winery experiences, allowing more time for tastings and conversations with the producers. For travellers interested in culture and heritage, more time can be dedicated to Vence and Saint-Paul-de-Vence. The itinerary can also include a Provençal lunch, either at a carefully selected restaurant or at a more informal local address, depending on the style of experience you prefer.

The Wines of Nice: Bellet wine. Your journey begins in the hills above Nice, where vineyards overlook the city and the Mediterranean. The wines of Bellet are produced in a remarkably small wine-growing area and are known for their distinctive local grape varieties and unique terroir. The landscape itself is part of the experience: vineyards, olive trees, pine forests and panoramic views create a very different atmosphere from the busy coastline below. Depending on your preferences and the availability of the estates, the itinerary could include visits to several of the area's most interesting wineries.

Usually, guests prefer to have one wine tasting in the morning, then lunch in one of the nearby villages, and finally a second wine tasting in the afternoon.

Style: private & tailor-made. Wine experiences: 2 to 3 estates, according to preferences and availability. Lunch: optional, according to your preferences, in Vence or Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

Château de Crémat

Begin with a visit to the iconic Château de Crémat, one of the emblematic estates of the Bellet appellation.

The château combines wine, architecture, history and contemporary art. The vineyard tour introduces you to the terroir, the vines and the winemaking process.

The estate produces organic wines from the Bellet terroir, including red, white and rosé wines. Its vineyard sits on the hills of Nice, where the particular soils and Mediterranean influence contribute to the character of the wines.

The experience can be extended with a visit combining the vineyard, cellars, château interiors and art gallery, creating a particularly rich introduction to the history and culture of Bellet.

Château de Bellet

Continue to Château de Bellet, another historic estate of the Bellet appellation.

Set amongst the vineyards of the hills overlooking Nice, the château offers the opportunity to discover the distinctive identity of this rare wine region while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside just minutes from the city.

A tasting here provides a different perspective on the wines of Bellet and allows you to compare the expression of the local terroir between estates.

Domaine de la Source

For a more intimate and family-oriented experience, visit Domaine de la Source, a family estate located in the hills of Nice.

The estate covers around seven hectares and has been farmed organically. The Dalmasso family has been involved in the vineyard for three generations, preserving the traditions and identity of Bellet wine.

A visit can include a walk through the vines, an introduction to the estate and its winemaking, followed by a tasting in the gardens or on the property's terrace.

The Wine of Saint-Jeannet

Nestled in the hills of the French Riviera, Saint-Jeannet has a long and distinctive winemaking tradition that has become increasingly rare today. Once surrounded by vineyards, the area was known for its local wines and for the famous "Saint-Jeannet tardif," a late-ripening table grape.

One of the village's most unusual traditions is its "vin tuilé," or sun-aged wine. Traditionally, large glass bottles or demijohns were exposed to the Mediterranean sun, allowing the wine to slowly develop its distinctive character, with amber or copper tones and complex oxidative aromas.

Today, only a few local winemakers continue to preserve this heritage. Discovering the wine of Saint-Jeannet is therefore more than a tasting - it is a glimpse into the authentic winemaking traditions and history of the hills surrounding Nice.

Vence

Medieval Heritage & Provençal Life

The journey continues to Vence, a historic town surrounded by the hills of the French Riviera.

Take time to explore the old town, with its narrow streets, small squares, ancient gates and local shops. Vence has long attracted artists, writers and visitors drawn by its exceptional light and peaceful setting between the mountains and the Mediterranean.

A stroll through the historic centre offers a different perspective on the region - away from the glamour of the coast and closer to the traditional rhythm of inland Provence.

Saint-Paul-de-Vence

Art, History & Atmosphere

The final highlight of the day is Saint-Paul-de-Vence, one of the most famous hilltop villages on the French Riviera.

Walk along the village's medieval ramparts and explore its beautifully preserved stone streets, galleries and small boutiques.

Saint-Paul-de-Vence has been closely associated with the artistic world for generations, attracting painters, writers and intellectuals from France and abroad.

Good to know

Questions guests ask before booking

Where do we start, and at what time?

We pick you up at your hotel, villa or the cruise terminal. Departure is usually between 8:30 and 9:30 - earlier to beat the crowds, later if you are on holiday and it is holiday time.

How is lunch handled?

We book the table, you choose the register: a gastronomic restaurant, a Provençal bistro, or a farm table. Lunch is not included in the tour price so that you keep the choice. Dietary requirements are never a problem - tell us in advance.

What language will the tour be in?

English or French by default. Spanish, Arabic and Berber are also possible - Fouad speaks all five.

Can we combine this with another tour over two days?

Often the best plan. The second day is quoted at a reduced rate.

What happens if the weather turns?

The day shifts without losing its character. We only cancel for genuinely unsafe mountain or sea conditions, and then we reschedule or refund.

How and when do we pay?

You receive a written proposal with a firm price for your group. No deposit is required to hold a date more than a week out. Payment on the day, by card or in cash.
