Morocco, through all its colours and contrasts
Small-group and private journeys, designed and personally hosted by Fouad Zarrou - born in Morocco, guiding travellers there for over ten years.
General introduction
Organizing journeys to Morocco is far more than a profession for me. It is a passion that has guided me for over ten years.
Born in Morocco and deeply connected to its traditions, culture and rich history, I have dedicated myself to sharing the beauty, diversity and authenticity of this fascinating country with travellers from around the world. My passion stems from a desire to introduce visitors to a Morocco that goes beyond the usual clichés - through carefully crafted, meaningful and immersive travel experiences.
Located at the crossroads of Africa and Europe, Morocco is a captivating blend of African, Amazigh (Berber), Arab, Jewish, Moorish and European influences. This remarkable cultural heritage is reflected in every aspect of daily life, from its cuisine, architecture and craftsmanship to its music, traditions and vibrant way of life.
Yet beyond its landscapes and monuments, it is the Moroccan people who leave the most lasting impression. Warm, welcoming and deeply proud of their heritage, they embody a spirit of generosity and hospitality that makes every encounter memorable.
From the rhythms of daily life in bustling medinas to the genuine warmth of local hospitality, every experience tells a story. Morocco's landscapes are equally diverse and inspiring: vast deserts, majestic mountain ranges, fertile valleys, picturesque coastal towns, and dramatic Atlantic and Mediterranean shorelines invite both exploration and wonder.
Each region offers a distinct character and experience. In the north, travellers can discover imperial cities, Mediterranean influences and charming coastal communities. Further south, the Atlas Mountains reveal breathtaking scenery and traditional villages, while the Sahara Desert offers unforgettable moments beneath endless skies and golden dunes. Throughout the country, visitors encounter vibrant traditions, exceptional cultural heritage and extraordinary natural beauty.
Over centuries, Morocco has developed a unique identity shaped by its remarkable diversity of landscapes, cultures and ways of life. It is precisely this richness that inspired me to create itineraries that showcase the many different facets of the country. To provide travellers with the most rewarding experience, I have designed two main touring programmes: Southern Morocco and Northern Morocco.
In addition, I organize private and fully customized trips throughout the year, carefully tailored to each traveller's interests, expectations, travel style and pace.
Every journey is personally designed and managed by me from beginning to end. From the initial planning stages to the conclusion of your trip, I remain your dedicated point of contact, ensuring seamless organization, meticulous attention to detail, and an authentic, stress-free travel experience.
My greatest satisfaction is creating far more than a simple vacation. My goal is to offer a genuine cultural and human immersion into the heart of Morocco. Each itinerary is thoughtfully crafted to foster meaningful encounters, authentic discoveries and unforgettable shared experiences in a warm and welcoming atmosphere - allowing every traveller to experience the true soul of Morocco, far beyond conventional tourism.
Three ways to travel

The distinction between the two itineraries stays flexible: for travellers wishing to extend, north and south combine into one comprehensive journey. I also organize private and fully customized trips throughout the year.

Tell me about yourself, and I design the journey around you.
Chaque itinéraire est dessiné pour un seul groupe
For travellers seeking a truly exclusive and personalized experience, I create fully customized private journeys tailored to your interests, travel style and personal aspirations. Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family, among friends, or with your own private group, every detail is carefully curated to provide a seamless blend of comfort, authenticity and meaningful local immersion.
Tell me about yourself - your interests, the places you dream of discovering, the experiences you wish to enjoy, and the pace at which you prefer to travel. Based on your preferences, I will be delighted to design a bespoke itinerary crafted specifically for you.
Like many discerning travellers, I believe that the true essence of a destination is revealed through its people, culture, traditions, gastronomy and way of life. While iconic landmarks naturally deserve their place in every journey, it is often the hidden gems, authentic encounters and exclusive experiences that create the most memorable moments.
Each itinerary is thoughtfully designed to combine a destination's celebrated highlights with carefully selected off-the-beaten-path discoveries that reflect your personal interests and expectations. My objective is not simply to show you a destination, but to help you experience it as a privileged guest, with unique access to its heritage, culture and local lifestyle.
Private cultural encounters, refined culinary experiences, preserved villages, breathtaking landscapes, hidden treasures and exclusive moments are seamlessly woven into every journey. Exceptional travel is not defined solely by the places you visit, but by the emotions you feel, the connections you make, and the memories you carry home.
From the earliest stages of planning to your return home, I remain your dedicated point of contact and personal travel host. This personalized approach ensures continuity, meticulous attention to detail and complete peace of mind throughout your journey, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy every moment of your Moroccan experience.

Who is this trip for?
This trip is for the open-minded and patient traveller. You should be eager to learn and work hands-on with local, skilled artisans, and be curious about regional culture and cuisine. This is an immersive adventure, best suited to those who enjoy travelling as part of a small group.
This trip will require some physical abilities. It includes several walking tours where the ground may be uneven, such as cobblestones, gravel, dunes or unpaved roads. We will walk in souks and monuments, plus a hike in the desert, riding camels, and so on. If you cannot walk for any reason, this trip is not for you.
By making a booking you represent that you do not have any physical or other conditions that would create a hazard for you or other participants, or affect other people's enjoyment of the trip.
Travel insurance
You acknowledge that travel insurance coverage is not included in the cost of this trip, and is not offered by our company. It is mandatory that all guests have their own travel insurance.
Travel insurance must cover personal injury, medical treatment, repatriation and evacuation expenses. It is recommended that travel insurance also address personal property and trip cancellation coverage. Trip cancellation insurance may be the only means of receiving reimbursement for flights and other non-refundable expenses should a trip be cancelled for any reason, whether voluntarily by you or as a result of our actions.
You are responsible for understanding the specifics of your travel insurance policy, ensuring that your policy covers all included activities listed in the trip itinerary, and ensuring that there are no exclusion clauses that would limit the coverage that you might reasonably need. If you have current health insurance coverage, check your policy to see if it provides the coverage described above while travelling outside your country. You also agree to assume all costs of medical care, evacuation, transportation and related costs.
How many participants are on each trip?
I believe that maintaining small group sizes creates a more enjoyable and meaningful travel experience, allowing participants to get to know one another and enjoy a more personalized journey.
Our groups typically consist of 6 to 10 travellers, providing the ideal balance between social interaction, flexibility and individual attention.
Accommodation
All accommodations will be in carefully selected riads and hotels, chosen for their beauty, comfort and authentic charm, including a luxurious desert camp experience - each tent equipped with a private bathroom and shower.
Alcohol consumption
Morocco is a Muslim country, so alcohol is not always available. Most restaurants we go to will have wine and beer, especially in the big cities: Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Essaouira, and the Taroudant hotels. I will provide alcohol at the desert camp.
You may also certainly purchase your own alcohol to consume with dinners or aperitifs.
Weather and what to pack
Spring and autumn are excellent times to visit Morocco. The weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures averaging around 25 °C. In the mornings and evenings it can be cooler, around 18 °C.
We plan to include plenty of outdoor walks, so we recommend wearing light, breathable clothing, as well as protecting yourself from the sun with a hat and sunscreen. It is also advisable to bring layered clothing and a light raincoat in case of occasional showers.
Travel arrangements
France Azur Experience will email you when it is time to make your travel arrangements. It will include a detailed itinerary, arrival and departure information, a suggested packing list, useful country information, an emergency form and more.
I will send you detailed trip planning. I usually send this information once we have reached the minimum number of guests required to run the trip.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations made on or before 90 days prior to the trip departure date, the deposit and any trip payments will be reimbursed by bank wire, in full, minus a cancellation fee of 300 euros.
For cancellations that occur 90 days or less prior to the trip departure date, cancellation charges will apply in the amount of 100% of the total trip price.
This cancellation policy applies without exception, including but not limited to adverse weather conditions, acts of terrorism, civil unrest, pandemics, illness, personal, family or medical emergencies, or any other circumstances beyond our control. For this reason, and for your own protection, we strongly recommend that all travellers purchase comprehensive travel insurance, including trip cancellation and interruption coverage.
If two people book a room together and one of the persons cancels the trip for any reason, France Azur Experience reserves the right to fill the space with another guest unless the remaining guest chooses to pay the additional fee for a single supplement room.
France Azur Experience will provide a full refund of any funds deposited by guests if the minimum number of guests required (6 people) is not reached, minus the bank fees.
Changes to itineraries and programme
France Azur Experience reserves the right to make any necessary changes in fees, departure cities, itinerary sequence, trip direction, hotels, optional excursions and activities in the event that these changes become necessary for any reason.
France Azur Experience may cancel the programme due to insufficient enrolment, unforeseen operational difficulties, natural or man-made disasters, terrorist attacks, or for any other necessary or unforeseen reasons.
